Simon Lab at 2026 HIPC Annual Meeting
Dr. Simon recently traveled to Rockville, MD to represent the Simon Lab at the Human Immune Project Consortium (HIPC) Annual Meeting.
As part of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), HIPC is “a network of researchers established to create a public resource that characterizes the diverse states of the human immune system. HIPC investigators use modern analytic tools to profile the immune system before and after infection, vaccination, or treatment with an adjuvant. The information gained from HIPC promises to improve the understanding of the human immune system and its regulation. It also will help scientists evaluate the safety and effectiveness of different vaccine formulations and administration techniques” (https://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/human-immunology-project-consortium).
Dr. Simon presented the lab’s work on the Viral Immunity and Vaccination (VIVA) project, of which she is the Co-Principal Investigator alongside Dr. Ana Fernandez-Sesma. This project evaluates human immune responses to both vaccination and infection from pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2, seasonal influenza viruses, and dengue viruses.
